Casa Marcello
This self-contained apartment is a newly restored part of a "Casa Padronale" (a rather more important house than a farmhouse). The Italian owner is passionate about the building and is now enjoying the restoration of the oldest part built in the 15th century.
Accommodation
The apartment has two double bedrooms, one single, two bathrooms and a kitchen/living room. Two large rooms on the ground floor with vaulted ceilings are available for the guests use. There is also a large covered terrace with views through the beautiful arches of the valley and hills beyond. Evening meals are memorable with the spectacular sight of the twinkling lights of Citta di Castello in the distance.
Outside
The secluded pool is a short distance from the house and is enclosed by a wall - an interesting feature is a large rock over which water cascades into the pool. Guests can also choose to sit in their own garden with shade provided by several mature trees.
The family, who have two teenage girls use the house from time to time during the school holidays: they are proud to offer part of their house for vacations and in particular look forward to meeting non-Italian guests.
The Area
Lerchi is a good base for visiting the well-known cities such as Assissi, Perugia, Florence and for discovering the smaller, lesser known hill-top towns that are so beautiful. Citta di Castello is an attractive busy town, only about 10 minutes drive from the house and has two market days a week - a good opportunity to experience true Italian life! There is also an antiques fair once a month in the main Piazza.
There are dozens of restaurants specialising in Tuscan/Umbrian cuisine, many dishes feature truffles and Porchini mushrooms.
